EEF Secretary Generals Conclude Productive Session on Upcoming Governance Reforms and FEI Rule Revisions
08. Aug 2025 / Category: Press Release
The European Equestrian Federation (EEF) hosted a dedicated information session on Thursday 7 August, during its Secretary Generals' meeting, focusing on preparations for the upcoming EEF Extraordinary and Annual General Assembly, as well as the FEI and Longines EEF Series rules revision.
Representatives from EEF member National Federations, along with key stakeholders and guests, gathered to continue discussing proposed governance reforms and upcoming elections. The session provided detailed insights into the updated draft of Statute Amendments and explored various options for the election of EEF Vice-Presidents and Board Members, allowing participants to raise questions and share feedback ahead of the Extraordinary and General Assembly vote in San Marino on 6-7 October 2025. Additional information about the transfer logistics was also provided.
Significant attention was given to the ongoing 2026 FEI Rules Revision, with invited representatives from the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) actively contributing to the discussions. Key topics included updates and proposals across multiple disciplines—Jumping, Eventing, Driving, Dressage and Endurance—as well as broader issues such as the recruitment and education of officials, the structure of Dressage technical delegate pathways, composition of a JSP team, and the rising costs associated with FEI events. The FEI’s participation allowed for direct exchange on these matters, including clarification on existing proposals and timelines.
Further discussion centred on the Longines EEF Series (LES), where proposed rule changes and ranking points allocations were discussed, with emphasis on preserving competitive opportunities for developing athlete and horse combinations. Updates were shared on the 2026–2030 bidding process for hosting future LES events, which has already attracted greater interest from more Organisers and National Federations than ever before, with an allocation announcement expected before the General Assembly this year.
In addition, the EEF presented its Sustainability Strategy Creator Tool, which supports National Federations in building customised sustainability plans. Already successfully implemented with the Greek National Federation, the tool was presented as a practical resource offering a structured approach to addressing environmental, governance and athlete welfare priorities.
Following this session, the EEF will continue to refine the proposed amendments and support the progression of both internal governance reforms and wider international rule revisions, ensuring its commitment to the development and sustainability of equestrian sport across Europe.
