The EEF is proud to announce Ulf Brömster, the President of Svenska Ridsportförbundet (Swedish National Federation), will chair the European Equestrian Federation (EEF) Sustainability Working Group.

Current group chair Nadia Kolodchenko is relocating continent and unable to continue in the role but will remain a valued external expert to inform and guide the EEF’s projects. In her time as chair, the working group have already made great progress in agreeing on the EEF Green Policy Statement and the initial version of the EEF Sustainability Code of Conduct. In addition, the ground-breaking research in partnership with Wageningen University & Research and the Swedish National Federation to calculate the carbon outputs of an elite competition horse is underway, with results expected later this year.

Ulf Brömster has been the Swedish NF president since 2015, having first joined their board in 2011. He has been a driving force for the federation's strategic work and helped foster an environment that has seen Sweden's talent development reach new levels, as seen through the elite teams' success.

In taking on the role Ulf will create an overriding sustainability strategy and outline the existing and new projects for the EEF to focus on. He said “It’s a great pleasure to take on this role with the EEF and ensure sustainability is at the forefront of all our member federations' agendas. We have a strong groundwork in place in Sweden and I will bring forward my knowledge and experience there, to help further the efforts of the EEF and our community”.

EEF President Theo Ploegmakers added “Securing the future for our sport is our number one priority and that means analysing and where necessary making changes to be sustainable. This is not just an environmental topic but considering all aspects of our ecosystem, to understand how we can maintain and improve for the future”.
