The EEF is deeply saddened by the passing of Marco Fuste.
Marco had devoted his life to equestrian sport as an athlete, organiser, chef d’equipe and sports leader. After many years with the Spanish equestrian federation as both Director of Jumping and chef d’equipe of the Spanish Jumping team (2006-21), he went on to work as the FEI Director of Jumping, a role he described as his dream job and the pinnacle of his career. He passed away on the 5 January in Switzerland, aged 60.
In addition to these roles, Marco played a part in the EEF history as a member of the Jumping and Nations Cup working groups that led the way towards the Longines EEF Series. In his role as FEI Jumping Director, he continued to offer his support and guidance and most recently worked on the rule changes that will continue the development of the Series in 2023.
EEF President Theo Ploegmakers said; “Marco’s loss will be felt by us all across the equestrian community. He was a passionate horseman, who worked tirelessly for our sport and was taken too soon. I offer my greatest condolences and support to his family at this time”
